Random Ravings

There's a few products that I want to talk about but they are all over the place in terms of category so here they are in a not so neatly organized list! I might do these monthly if you guys (if anyone) enjoy reading. Get comfortable because this is a long one! Anyway, here's an over view of a few products that I'm absolutely loving at the moment.

1.   Tangle Teezer

I've heard so many people rave about this brush so I had to give it a try. I have really long, thick, wavy hair that gets really tangled at the nape of my neck. I can remember back to when I was a kid, after my bath my mom would sit my down with a comb and try to tackle my rat's nest of a mop. She tried all kinds of conditioners and leave in products to combat my tangles. It would have saved me a lot of pain if they only had these in the 90's. Bottom line is this brush untangles my hair with minimum amounts of discomfort. It gets out my soon to be dreads in no time. My boyfriend also likes it for his hair, and his beard :O Basically this is good for anyone!

2.   Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

I heard some good things about cleansing balms so I thought I'd give it a go. If you are new to cleansing balms, what they do is they slightly hydrate while they dissolve your makeup. They are in a balmy form that turn into a light kind of oily texture as you're massaging it into your skin. This is the first cleansing balm I've tried and I really like it. It does in fact dissolve the makeup off my face (not so much all of my eye makeup) so I use this first before I actually go in with an exfoliant or that Sephora Cleansing Pad. It does the job and the tub itself has lasted quite long.

3.   Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara in Black

Okay, this sounds like a TOTAL gimmick. $10 for a tiny mascara? Well, if you're like my mom and have microscopic bottom lashes, this is for you. I recommended it to her (after having not tried it yet, but I did hear good things) so we went to Ulta and both got one. The next day she told me she absolutely loves it, and I could actually see her bottom lashes. I have normal length bottom lashes, but I did notice a major difference in length, blackness, thickness, and the overall amount of lashes. This minuscule brush can get into every nook and cranny and can brag on to even the thinnest hairs. It has also helped at grabbing the lashes in my inner and outer corners of my top lashes that a big brush can't grab. No, it's not necessary, but if you're concerned with your lower lashes, this is for you.

4.   Sephora Collection Precision Pore Cleansing Pad

This little guy was a whim purchase. $6 at Sephora, cute, pink, and filled with promises. *clicks add to cart*.  Sephora.com says "A flexible silicone pad that gently massages the face and helps deliver deeply clean, radiant results. This tool uses tiny bristles to invigorate the skin and effectively clean pores, helping to exfoliate and soften the skin." I LOVE the little bristles. I couldn't stop playing with them after I opened it. It has this little nub on the back where it rests between your fingers, and it also can suction itself to the wall of your shower. It's smaller than I expected, but it works non-the-less. I'll tell you a story. I was cleansing my face with cleansing balm, and I noticed I had a painful blemish that was below the surface. I thought to myself, that'll take a few days to show. I used this cleansing pad on my face and it felt like it was bringing the monster to the surface. After my shower I cleaned out my blemish (tmi, I know we're not supposed to do this!) and when I woke up the next day, that spot was the ghost of what it had been. I felt like this thing really got the gunk to rise up out of my skin! Maybe it was a fluke, or maybe that pimple was a fast one, I don't know. I use the Clarisonic wannabe, Olay Professional Pro-X brush every now and again and that does bring up the bacteria, but not as fast as this scrubbing pad did. Tell me how this cheap little thing did better than a battery powered toothbrush for your face? I don't know! If anyone else wants to give it a go, let me know what you think!

5.   Say Yes to Blueberries Age Refresh Facial Towelettes

Face towelettes are my makeup remover of choice when I don't shower at night but still need to take my face off. I always try new face wipes when I run out and decided to grab some that are slightly pricier. I'm glad I did! These wipes have a plastic little door that you open to keep your wipes moist. It's much better than the adhesive flap other ones have. Some other wipes burn my eyes or sting my skin (my skin isn't sensitive either and can normally take a beating!) but these wipes did not. They were gentle, yet effective at removing makeup, they aren't harsh or abrasive, it's packed full of good-for-you ingredients, and the scent is light and pleasant. I will most definitely repurchase these again.

6.   Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick

I have dry, peeling lips no matter the season so I wanted to pick up something that was extremely moisturizing. I also am a sucker for any product in stick form; foundation, sunscreen, lotions, you name it. I'm not a fan of cocoa butter smells but I went in and got this anyway. My dry lips are practically gone. I use this before bed and wake up with soft, smooth, hydrated lips. I will definitely take this over anything for true, deep down moisture. You can also use this on dehydrated skin, cracked areas, or extremely coarse patches. My knees have this problem so I swipe this on on the go and instantly those areas feel quenched. I get lazy about moisturizing my body so I haven't been super consistent on those dry areas to date, but I can tell some minor improvement. Since this is a stick, I bring it in my purse at all times.

7.   Sephora Collection Z Palette Size Small

I have a story behind this one as well, except it's not to pleasant. The product itself is AWESOME. I've been wanting one of these since forever, but never actually bit the bullet. I noticed that they made some for Sephora to sell so I had to get it. It's a magnetic palette that comes with a spatula to pry out shadows or powders, and has magnetic stickers, just in case your shadow you are depotting isn't magnetic. Well, as you've seen in my last post, my Naked Basics palette was looking pretty used up. So I went about depotting these shadows, and let me tell you, Urban Decay doesn't mess around. In the instructions to the Z Palette, is mentions holding a straightening iron under your shadows to loosen the glue. Did that. Prying them out made the black shadow crack and disburse all over my carpet. I actually popped the inner plastic out and cut through it to give more room for prying out the shadows. If that makes sense! I'm blaming this catastrophe on Urban Decay's glue. Anyway, I did manage to clean up the mess and de-pot 3 out of 4 shadows that I wanted to keep. I also had a few Tarte shadows (that are magnetic in their original palette which made this a breeze) which you can see in the photo, so my palette looks as filled as it can be! The Z Palette itself is much sturdier than I thought it would be, and the clear plastic is no joke. The magnetic inside is really strong as well, and the stickers it came with were necessary for a few. I think this is such a good idea, especially for those who buy single shadows that have no pot. I'm ready to buy the larger version and de-pot a bunch of things, hopefully with better results!

8.   Sally Hansen Removers Kwik Off Nail Polish Remover

Where has this been all my life? Basically it's a little plastic jar that has a sponge inside that's coated with remover, with about 4 'x' shaped slits in it. Just dip your polished finger in the slit, wiggle it back and forth, pull it out and you're left with a clean finger nail in only a few seconds. I absolutely hate taking off nail polish because I'm so clumsy (I can see myself in a bad informercial for this) and spill the remover. I would rather pick it off and let it chip. I remember back in the day when I was about 12 I spilled a whole bottle all over my comforter. Well, those days are behind me! If you're lazy like me, pick this up. At under 4 dollars, you really can't go wrong.

If you stuck around till the end, kudos to you. What are some products you're loving at the moment? Do you have any weird beauty stories?

Thanks for reading!
