If you've read my other blog posts, you'll know that my skin is mainly normal, but more oily in the summer and more dry in the winter. My skin can also take a beating, so if you have sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend anything in particular for your concerns. I will always point out though if something I use is geared towards your type of skin.
First off, I normally shower at night. I use Clinique's Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm in the shower to just melt my makeup off and prep it for deep cleansing. If you want to know more about this product, you can view my post here.
Next, I use Sephora's Precision Pore Cleansing Pad (I talked about it's maybe magical powers here) and the Body Shop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash together to exfoliate and to deeply clean out my pores.
If I still have raccoon eyes after the shower, I use a bit of Maybelline's Clean Express! Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover on a cotton pad to get rid of any leftover eye makeup.
Next I use a serum. Right now I'm in between NUDE Skincare Advanced Renewal Serum and Ole Henrikson Truth Serum Collagen Booster. If you can get your hands on a sample of these, make sure you snatch it up, they can get quite pricey. I got one as a 100 point deluxe sample perk from Sephora, and the other I did in fact purchase. Both are nice, and I can see an improvement in texture and tone of my complexion. These have also helped keep the springiness in my skin.
After a serum, I'll either hydrate with a moisturizer, or a facial oil, depending on my mood and what's closest. Right now I'm using plain old Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for my moisturizer (the tub is huge so I must use it up!) or Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil (I also got this as a 100 point perk). Either of these just insure that my skin stays hydrated all night long.
I have chronic panda eyes; they aren't dry or puffy, just dark. So I do use an eye cream when I'm not too lazy. Right now I'm using Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer. This one just came in the standard sample packet but I always squeeze those out into a tiny jar so that they stay good longer. This one has been lasting me weeks. I don't see a dramatic difference in my under eye darkness, mainly because I think you can't really fix hereditary circles, but it does brighten and there has been a slight improvement.
Lastly I make sure my lips are properly moisturized. I've been using the remnants of my Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Untinted (that I got as Sephora's birthday gift 2 years ago-- I know!) or my Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stick, which I've talked about here. Either of these keeps my lips nice and hydrated all night long.
When I have some down time, I like to throw on a mask for a bit and I've been *loving* Origin's Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask. This stuff made me skin unbelievably glowy, all the gunk seemed to be sucked out of my face, and it left my skin ridiculously soft, smooth, and clean.
If I'm not showering at night, like on Friday and Saturday nights, I remove my makeup before bed with Say Yes to Blueberries Wipes, the Maybelline Eye Makeup Remover, and follow up with the same skincare routine starting with a serum.
This has worked nicely for me at the moment. I haven't had any major breakouts. I started this routine after my skin was going crazy and breaking out everywhere, and this has calmed it down. I will eventually change things up and switch things out when I get new samples/purchases or if I run out of something. I'm really adventurous with my skincare so I can't wait to test out some new products. I'll let you know if anything I use is really revolutionary.
What is your favorite skincare item? Is there something you can't live without? Let me know in the comments. I'm dying to hear if anyone is really reading this little 'ol blog!
Thanks for reading!
